DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say a man accused of fatally shooting a 17-year-old girl has pleaded not guilty to murder and other charges in Ohio.
Trendell Goodwin also pleaded not guilty Friday to charges of felonious assault and improper discharge of a weapon. The 28-year-old Dayton man’s bond was set at $1 million.
Court records say LaShonda Childs and her boyfriend were in a parked car Oct. 2 when Goodwin fired into the vehicle, striking Childs. The girl’s boyfriend drove her to a hospital, where she died the next morning.
Police haven’t commented on a motive. Police say Childs called 911 prior the shooting to report an alleged violation of a protective order.
Online court records don’t show an attorney for Goodwin. Calls Sunday to the public defender’s office in Dayton weren’t answered.
