SCITUATE, R.I. (AP) - Police in Rhode Island are looking for a man who they say tried to drive over an officer.
Scituate police say the man was speeding away from an officer who tried to pull him over Friday night when he crashed into a fence. When the officer approached, the driver backed up and drove toward the officer. Police say the officer fired his gun at the car and narrowly missed being struck.
The man then crashed into another car and fled on foot into a wooded area. The officer initially tried to stop the man because police in nearby Foster said he fled from them earlier.
Police described the man as a 6-foot-tall black man with short dark hair and was wearing blue jeans and a yellow shirt with black stripes.
