KEARNY, N.J. (AP) - A woman survived with mostly minor injuries after her car downed a utility pole and burst into flames in Kearny.

The crash occurred around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday on the Belleville Turnpike.

The driver had to be removed from the charred wreckage, which came to a rest on its side near a building. She was taken to a hospital. Her name has not been released.



Police are trying to determine what caused the crash, which left more than 2,000 customers without electricity for several hours.
