RENO, Nev. (AP) - A 59-year-old Sparks man convicted of posing online as a teenager to persuade a 12-year-old girl to send him nude photos of herself has been sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison.
Federal prosecutors say Steven Streit was sentenced Monday in federal court in Reno after pleading guilty to coercion and enticement of a minor. They say he admitted to using an online file-sharing network to download and trade child pornography.
Federal agents started investigating in 2017 when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a tip about child pornography being uploaded to a network account.
The FBI and local officers searched Streit’s apartment and found more than 500 images, 92 video files of child pornography and online chats with the girl in Florida.
