NEW YORK (AP) - A New York City police officer has been found guilty of pistol-whipping a man and stealing his pants.
The New York Post reports that Anthony Delacruz had initially claimed he fired his weapon as he was being robbed by five men outside a Bushwick club.
But surveillance footage showed him pointing his weapon at the victim and ordering him to disrobe. He then takes his cash and cellphone before hitting him in the face with his firearm.
Delacruz was convicted by a Brooklyn jury on Wednesday of robbery, assault and other charges.
The former officer, who had been on modified duty, was fired after the verdict. He faces up to 25 years in prison when he’s sentenced April 29.
