BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Bennington College is getting a $4 million grant to support short-term poetry residencies on the Vermont campus.
The college says the grant that will help endow the program known as Poetry at Bennington, helps fund short-term residencies that bring established and emerging poets to Bennington for public readings and to work with students.
The college did not identify the donors beyond saying they were “longstanding donors.”
Since the Poetry at Bennington program began in 2012, it has brought more than 50 poets to campus, including poets laureate and Pulitzer Prize winners, along with a diverse range of emerging and established poets.
The events are free and regularly attract students from neighboring colleges and poetry enthusiasts from across the region.
