MOUNT VERNON, Wash. (AP) - A woman has pleaded guilty to charges related to her role in a five-vehicle crash that killed a 49-year-old Washington woman.
The Skagit Valley Herald reports Lucia Luna Morales pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of second-degree manslaughter and one count of reckless driving in the December 2015 crash that killed Jill Elwick of Sedro-Woolley.
Luna Morales was sentenced to one year in jail, with the option to serve her sentence on work release.
She will serve two years of community custody upon completion of her sentence.
Luna Morales is the second person to plead guilty in Elwick’s death.
Michael John Stephenson pleaded guilty to one count of vehicular homicide and one count of vehicular assault for the crash.
He was sentenced to 20 months in prison, followed by 18 months of community custody.
