KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Authorities say nine people were shot and four were killed in a violent four days in Kansas City.

KMBC-TV reports that the weekend violence started Friday when one person was shot in the leg. On Monday, a rolling gun battle killed one person and injured another.

Community activist Rosilyn Temple says, “We cannot have the norm be that this is OK.” She started the group Mothers in Charge after her son, Antonio Thompson, was killed in 2011. No arrests have been made in his death.

Kansas City has had 36 homicides this year, and online statistics show that most of them aren’t solved. Temple says the key to solving them is for people to tell police what they know. She says that if one life is saved, “that’s a lot.”
