WHITE CENTER, Wash. (AP) - After asking for the public’s help, a man considered armed and dangerous who was charged in a stabbing near Seattle has been arrested.
The King County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday that 42-year-old Daniel Varela was arrested by the US Marshals task force. The sheriff’s office says he was found sleeping in a Kennewick park thanks to an anonymous Crimestoppers tip.
The Seattle Times reports Varela was charged with assault in King County Superior Court. Prosecutors say Varela stabbed a man multiple times and slit his throat. A warrant had been issued for his arrest and bail was set at $1 million.
Charges say the victim had given Varela’s girlfriend a ride March 20 before picking Varela up. Prosecutors say Varela stabbed the man, telling him it was on behalf of his girlfriend.
The victim was treated in intensive care and underwent surgery, according to charges.
