“Tour de Jose” is an exploration of four Jose Andres restaurants in Penn Quarter available Sunday through Thursday. A group of up to six people visit Zaytinya (701 Ninth St. NW), Jaleo (480 Seventh St. NW), Oyamel Cocina Mexicana (401 Seventh St. NW) and China Chilcano (418 Seventh St. NW) for a taste of Mediterranean, Spanish, Mexican and Peruvian cuisine, respectively. Priced at $195 per person (all inclusive), the tour offers a special menu of three to five small plates and paired beverages at each restaurant. Reservations can be made at [email protected]

The Hay-Adams‘ (800 16th St. NW) Author Series luncheon on Friday will feature David W. Blight’s latest work, “Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom.” Mr. Blight — a teacher, scholar, historian and author or editor of a dozen books — will discuss his work at the luncheon, which is priced at $90 per person and includes a three-course menu with wine pairings.

On Saturday, Red’s Table (11150 South Lakes Drive, Reston) will host a five-course dinner featuring craft beers from Adroit Theory Brewing Co. of Purcellville, Virginia. The dinner with beer pairings is priced at $85 per person. On Sunday, National Beer Day, the restaurant will offer draft beer specials during lunch and dinner at $4 each from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Every Wednesday from 4 p.m. to midnight, Red’s Table offers a rotating list of premium draft beers at the discounted price of $4 each.

Monday is National Empanada Day. Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar (801 Ninth St. NW) will celebrate with “A Dollar Empanada Happy Hour” in the bar/lounge from 4-7 p.m. Three kinds of empanadas (pulled pork, ground beef and chicken) will be priced at $1 each. On tax day, April 15, the restaurant will offer a three-course $10.40 lunch menu. Dinner guests will be eligible to complete a raffle entry form that mirrors a 1040 tax form. One winner will be chosen at random to win a complimentary happy hour for up to 10 people.

Cherry blossom season is here until April 14, and specials inspired by the blooms will be available all over town. Here are some of them:



Hot cross buns filled with cherries and spice will be available at $2.50 each at Bayou Bakery, Coffee Bar & Eatery (1515 N. Courthouse Road, Arlington).

At Buttercream Bakeshop (1250 Ninth St. NW), the haha, a cylindrical snack cake, will be filled with cherry buttercream, available for $4.

The Occidental Grill & Seafood (1475 Pennsylvania Ave. NW) is serving a sour cherry-yuzu gyoza priced at $10. The dessert is served with a scoop of cherry blossom gelato.

The Next Whisky Bar in The Watergate Hotel (2650 Virginia Ave. NW) will serve cherries jubilee to share for $19.

Mastro’s Steakhouse (600 13th St. NW) is serving the Bing and Blossom cocktail combining gin, cherries, mint and lemon.

The cherry blossom afternoon tea at The St. Regis hotel (923 16th St. NW) will feature a custom-blended cherry blossom tea, made in house, along with bites and treats inspired by cherry blossoms, available through April 14 from 2-5 p.m. The hotel lobby has been turned into a Japanese Zen garden with a traditional Japanese torii (gate) greeting guests as they enter the hotel. A large cherry blossom tree made of dark chocolate and covered in about 300 handmade pink cherry blossoms surrounds the torii.

On April 17, the Dyllan’s Raw Bar Grill (1054 31st St. NW) beverage team will teach guests how to read wine lists, understand flavor profiles and pair wine with food. The class runs from 7-9 p.m. and is priced at $45 per person. On April 18, the restaurant holds a “roll your own sushi” class from 6-8 p.m., priced at $60 per person.

The Easter Bunny will appear for breakfast at The Ritz-Carlton, Pentagon City (1250 S. Hayes St., Arlington) from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on April 13. Breakfast is $42 per person. On Easter Sunday, April 21, a special brunch will be served in the hotel’s grand ballroom, priced at $99 for adults and $40 for children.

Dirty Habit DC (555 Eighth St. NW) is kicking off patio season with two outdoor festivities: the annual Easter egg hunt on April 21 and a courtyard concert with reggae musician Greg Ward on April 24.

A special five-course, prix-fixe dinner by Soom Foods will be served at the Israeli restaurant Sababa (3311 Connecticut Ave. NW) on April 16 at 6 p.m. Philadelphia-based Soom Foods is a purveyor of globally inspired pantry staples for professional chefs and home cooks. The dinner is priced at $65 per person, with an additional $35 for wine pairings from Israeli vineyards.

Supra (1205 11th St. NW) continues its monthly Georgian dinners on April 18, beginning at 8 p.m. Georgian spreads and appetizers, family-style platters, seasonal desserts, teas and wines are featured. All-inclusive tickets are $125. Guests will take home a jar of house-made Georgian spice rub and a wearable gift.
