SPARKS, Nev. (AP) - Washoe County officials say a stray bullet apparently fired by a target-shooter narrowly missed a woman sitting inside her home.
The Sheriff’s Office calls the incident late Sunday afternoon in the Hidden Valley area east of Reno-Tahoe International Airport a “frightening close call” that’s a reminder to recreational shooters that they need to understand and obey ordinances banning discharge of firearms in congested areas.
The office says deputies contacted target shooters in nearby hills about the stray bullet that nearly hit the woman but were unable to identify those responsible.
The office also says the call received from the Hidden Valley woman was just one of many calls received over the weekend about recreational shooters.
