OXFORD, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a man was hospitalized and faces numerous charges after what police said was an attempted stabbing and an interstate chase of more than 40 miles spanning two New Jersey counties.

LehighValleyLive.com reports that court records indicate that the 27-year-old suspect faces charges including driving under the influence and eluding police, with additional charges pending.

Washington Township police were called shortly after 9:30 p.m. Friday to the Cambridge East apartment complex in Oxford. Lt. James Teter alleges that the suspect “holding a female at knifepoint, preventing her from leaving.” Police allege that he also rammed a car in what was described as a domestic altercation.

Police say the suspect fled east on Interstate 80 into Morris County, crossed the median and headed back west, where his vehicle was disabled.
