HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Police in Connecticut’s capital are investigating the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy whose body was found inside a crashed vehicle.

Hartford police Lt. Paul Cicero says Felipe Lopez, of Windsor, was found in a crashed car on Albany Avenue just before 1 a.m. Wednesday. He had been shot multiple times. He died at the hospital. Cicero says Lopez would have turned 17 on Friday.

Police say Lopez did not have a driver’s license and the car was not registered or insured. It had not been stolen.

Police are trying to determine where Lopez was shot and if the gunfire came from within the vehicle or outside it. No one else was in the car when officers arrived at the scene and there were no bullet holes in the vehicle.
