JOHNSTON, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island State Police say the death of a 61-year-old man whose body was found at a Johnston recycling center appears to be “an unfortunate tragedy.”
Police said Friday the investigation showed that Roberto Vazquez apparently sought shelter in a dumpster filled with cardboard at a fast food restaurant in Cranston on Wednesday night. A recycling truck arrived at the restaurant on Thursday morning to empty the dumpster. The driver did not see or hear anyone in the container.
Vazquez, of Providence, was discovered at approximately 10:30 a.m. at Full Cycle Recycling.
There were no signs of foul play and the death does not appear to be suspicious. An autopsy has been conducted and the results are pending the outcome of toxicology tests.
