Remember the speculation that Jon Gruden and the Oakland Raiders loved quarterback prospect Kyler Murray so much, they might trade up to No. 1 overall to take him?

It didn’t work out that way, but comedian and Gruden impersonator Frank Caliendo offered football fans a glimpse into an alternate universe where the Raiders got Murray.

Caliendo told “The Dan Patrick Show” on Tuesday he left Arizona Cardinals general manager Steve Keim several voice messages last Thursday on the first day of the NFL draft, egging him on as Gruden and other NFL voices.

Watch Caliendo tell the story here:

Caliendo said he and Keim have been friends for years, and Keim was obviously in on the joke, later telling Patrick he thought he agreed to “three or four trades with the Raiders.”

Caliendo’s Gruden impersonation became famous while the comedian and the coach both worked for ESPN.
