SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say 12 women were sexually assaulted in South Carolina over an eight-year span and now a man has been arrested more than a decade since the last crime.
Spartanburg police and the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office tell news outlets that 52-year-old Gregory Howard Frye was arrested Tuesday and charged in connection with one the attacks. They say more charges against him are pending.
At a news conference Wednesday, authorities said the women were attacked between 1995 and 2003 and ranged in age from 14 to 51. One was assaulted twice, for a total of 13 attacks.
Authorities say new DNA evidence linked Frye to the attacks. The news reports didn’t say if he has a lawyer who could comment.
