PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say human remains have been found at a home in the Ahwatukee (ah-wha-TU’-kee) area of southeast Phoenix.
Investigators from the Phoenix Police Department Homicide Unit and Phoenix Fire Department are investigating the discovery of the remains, which are believed to be from an adult.
The Maricopa County Medical Examiner will try to determine the age, sex, cause of death and identity of the person.
Phoenix police say it’s not known how long the remains have been in the house.
Officers were called Thursday to the home that caught fire in March 2017.
Shortly after the fire, a neighbor reported the resident missing.
Due to a recent change in the ownership of the house, workers were sent to clean it so it could be rebuilt.
