PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - A Florida man has been convicted of causing a fatal crash while fleeing a traffic stop.
The Pensacola News Journal reports that 30-year-old Denorris Antonio Wright was found guilty Wednesday of vehicular homicide, fleeing to elude a law enforcement officer causing death and driving with a suspended license. He faces up to 50 years in prison at a May 22 sentencing.
Prosecutors say Wright tried to get away from an Escambia County deputy in June 2017. He ran a stop sign at a Pensacola intersection and crashed into another vehicle. That vehicle’s driver, Sam Lee Knight, died from his injuries.
