County sheriff announces his retirement

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont sheriff has announced he is retiring after nearly 30 years working in law enforcement.

Windham County Sheriff Keith Clark says his retirement will be effective June 30, only a few months into his fourth four-year term.

He tells the Brattleboro Reformer it is “tiring to do this job,” and he doesn’t “have the passion for it anymore.”

Clark says he plans to join his wife, Bonnie, in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she has lived and worked since October 2017.

Clark says he has had some invitations for work but he is not ready to discuss them.

He says he has recommended Capt. Mark Anderson for Gov. Phil Scott to appoint as his replacement.
