STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. (AP) - A community prayer vigil is happening Saturday in Georgia to honor Sandra White and her 16-year-old son, Arkeyvion White.
The two were killed by Sandra White’s boyfriend inside their Stockbridge home Thursday during a 15-hour-long standoff after he shot two Henry County police officers and refused to exit the home.
WXIA-TV reports Saturday’s vigil is happening at Stockbridge City Hall at 6 p.m.
Family members say both victims had bright futures. Sandra was a registered nurse and in school to become a nurse practitioner. She was 36 weeks pregnant and her family was planning a surprise baby shower Saturday. Arkeyvion, a promising football player and student at Dutchtown High School, had dreams of becoming a professional athlete.
Family has launched an online fundraising campaign to help pay for their memorials.
