CHESTER, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say a man and an 8-year-old died in a Pennsylvania fire that also critically injured a 4-year-old.

Chester fire department units called to the building in Chester at about 3 a.m. Sunday reported smoke coming from the second floor.

Commissioner William Rigby says firefighters pulled the two children from the building and took them to a hospital, where the eldest child died.

Rigby says the building used to house businesses on the first floor and apartments on the second but was supposed to have been vacant for some time.
