BELTON, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina man killed by deputies this week was recently accused of attacking his neighboring relatives.
Citing incident reports, the Independent Mail reports Anderson County deputies responded to a Belton neighborhood at least three times this month because of 37-year-old Thomas Michael Reynolds.
His aunt accused him of screaming at her and smashing her truck windows with a hammer that he then hit her with. Deputies responded Wednesday to a report that he threatened his cousin with a knife.
Sheriff Chad McBride says deputies searched for Reynolds outside a home he lived behind in a camper. He said an armed Reynolds confronted deputies, who then fired.
Sgt. J.T. Foster says there is no recorded video of the shooting. Two deputies are on paid administrative leave while state authorities investigate.
