ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A 29-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for fatally shooting two men and wounding a woman who remains paralyzed.

Samuel Shaw of Rochester was sentenced Friday in Monroe County Court on two counts of first-degree murder, assault and other charges. A jury previously convicted him of killing 30-year-old William Gibson and 28-year-old Anthony Robertson and wounding Alia Nunez.

Police say Shaw fired a handgun 13 times in a Rochester parking lot in June 2018. The men were struck while sitting in a car parked outside a Rite Aid store. The woman was struck while sitting in another car.

Police believe the victims weren’t the intended targets. The prosecution presented physical evidence but never established a motive for the shootings. Shaw maintained his innocence.
