Age, gender released of child found dead in Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities in Tennessee say a child found dead in a car at a parking lot in sweltering heat was a 6-month-old boy.

Tennessee Department of Children’s Services spokeswoman Jennifer Donnals confirmed the child’s age and gender to the Knoxville News Sentinel .

The child was pronounced dead at the scene outside a grocery store Aug. 9.

No arrests have been made and the death remains under investigation by the department, Knoxville police and the Knox County Regional Forensic Center.
