BLACKSTONE, Mass. (AP) - Police say a 17-year-old boy is facing charges in connection with the death of a pet cat shot with an arrow.

Acting Blackstone Police Chief Gregory Gilmore said the teen was identified as a suspect through several tips from the public.

Gilmore says investigators executing a search warrant at the boy’s home Sunday found a bow and several arrows similar to the one found in the cat.

The suspect’s name wasn’t made public because of his age. He will be summoned to juvenile court to face felony killing an animal and damaging personal property charges.

The animal was shot Thursday and had to be euthanized at a veterinary hospital.

An anonymous donor offered a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest.
