There will not be a rematch in ArenaBowl 32.

Both the Washington Valor and Baltimore Brigade were knocked out of the Arena Football League playoffs over the weekend in the semifinals, thwarting both Monumental-owned teams from a return to the league’s title game.

The Valor lost Game 2 of their semifinal series to the Philadelphia Soul, 48-41, a week after being blown out 69-33 by the same team. Washington quarterback Arvell Nelson won offensive player of the game for his 363 passing yards, four passing touchdowns and one rushing score, but the Soul stayed ahead on aggregate score the whole day.

The Albany Empire took care of Baltimore, winning their series with a final aggregate score of 123-47. Albany will host Philadelphia in ArenaBowl 32 next Sunday at 8 p.m., with the game being televised on ESPN2.

Last year, the Valor beat the Brigade to win the franchise’s first ArenaBowl. Washington famously went 2-10 in the regular season, but in 2018 all four teams in the AFL made the postseason.

The Valor improved this year, earning a 7-5 regular season record.
