BELMONT, Maine (AP) - A man and woman were arrested in Maine after they were found smoking crack while a 1-year-old child was inside their vehicle, officials said.
Jacob Moulton, 28, and Desirae Cushman, 32, were discovered parked in an empty lot in Belmont on Saturday, Maine State Police said in a statement.
Moulton and Cushman were using drugs with a small child strapped into a car seat, police said. They were arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and unlawful drug possession.
Moulton and Cushman, both of Searsmont, were arrested and taken to Waldo County Jail. The child was taken to a relative.
An official at the jail said the pair posted bail Saturday night. They are due in court at a later date.
The Associated Press couldn’t find phone numbers for Moulton and Cushman, and they didn’t immediately respond to an emailed request for comment. There was no paperwork indicating if they had an attorney.
