PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A tax driver was critically injured in a shooting in his cab in west Philadelphia, police said.
Officers were called at about 4 a.m. Saturday to the Mantua neighborhood and found the 53-year-old man in the driver’s seat of the taxi with a gunshot wound to the stomach, police said.
He was taken to Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was listed in “very critical condition,” a police spokeswoman said.
Police said a preliminary investigation indicates that the driver was shot and then drove two blocks south, where the vehicle jumped the curb and came to rest against a small tree. No arrests have been reported and the motive is unknown.
