President Trump said Sunday that he’s usually working, not relaxing when his schedule shows large chunks of unstructured “executive time.”

A recent media leak about his work schedule “should have been reported as a positive, not negative,” Mr. Trump tweeted in his first public comment on the issue.

“When the term Executive Time is used, I am generally working, not relaxing,” the president said. “In fact, I probably work more hours than almost any past President.”

Axios obtained the president’s schedules for the past three months, showing that he spends as much as 60 percent of his day in “executive time” without specific meetings or events listed. Mr. Trump assured his followers on Twitter that he’s keeping busy.

“The fact is, when I took over as President, our Country was a mess,” he tweeted. “Depleted Military, Endless Wars, a potential War with North Korea, V.A., High Taxes & too many Regulations, Border, Immigration & HealthCare problems, & much more. I had no choice but to work very long hours!”
