SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Authorities in West Valley City say a suspect has been arrested in a homicide case.

West Valley police say 50-year-old Darren Byrd is jailed on suspicion of aggravated murder, child abuse, obstruction of justice, possession of a weapon by a restricted person and domestic violence in the presence of a child.

Police say they received a 911 call around 6:30 p.m. Saturday and officers found the body of a woman inside a trailer home.

She’s been identified as 46-year-old Belinda Thomas and police say she had multiple stab wounds.

Police say she later died from her injuries.

The Deseret News reports that the relationship between Byrd and Thomas hasn’t been determined, but police believe the two lived together.

Thomas’ 5-year-old son now is in the custody of child welfare services.
