MANSFIELD, Mass. (AP) - Two firefighters were brought to the hospital when a fire engine burst into flames inside a Massachusetts firehouse.
The engine caught fire in Mansfield at about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. Four on-duty firefighters were alerted to the blaze by smoke alarms.
Authorities say two firefighters required treatment for smoke inhalation but are expected to be OK.
Chief Neal Boldrighini says the engine was used on a call on Tuesday and no one noticed anything wrong with it.
Extensive smoke and water damage also forced the shutdown of the station, one of two fire stations in the town about 25 miles south of Boston.
Fire officials said medical supplies and other gear were also damaged.
The cause is under investigation.
