EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut State Police trooper has suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 84.

Police say Trooper Brett Cook was responding to reports of a disabled vehicle on the highway in East Hartford at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday when he parked on the right shoulder with his emergency lights activated.

Authorities say 18-year-old Chad Taylor, of Windsor, was merging onto the highway and lost control, veered to the right, and struck the rear of Cook’s parked cruiser.

Cook and Taylor were transported to Hartford Hospital. Both have been released. A passenger in Taylor’s car was not hurt.

Police say Taylor was found at fault and issued a ticket for failure to drive at a reasonable distance apart, driving too fast and other infractions.
