BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A woman wanted in the Christmas Eve shooting death of an Alabama grocery store clerk has been arrested in Tennessee.

Al.com reported U.S. Marshals arrested 30-year-old Sharonda James in Chattanooga, Tennessee, around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

James is charged with killing 28-year-old Jerika Manuel at a grocery store in Birmingham.

U.S. Marshal Marty Keely said the office received information that James was in Chattanooga and marshals in Tennessee knocked on a door and James answered and was arrested.

James is being held in the Hamilton County, Tennessee, jail where she’s being held pending extradition to Alabama. It was not known if she has an attorney.

Birmingham police Sgt. Johnny Williams said a woman entered the grocery and confronted the victim. Investigators don’t know what prompted the dispute between the women.
