Body found near door of home that had been on fire

DICKSON, Tenn. (AP) - Officials say a female body was found near the front door of a home that had been on fire.

The Dickson County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that authorities responded to a house fire Wednesday around 8:30 p.m.

News outlets report that the body was found after the Tennessee City Volunteer Fire Department extinguished the blaze. The female is not being identified until a positive identification has been made. An autopsy will be performed.

The origin of the fire remains under investigation.
