EDISON, N.J. (AP) - A woman who was seriously injured in a fire at her central New Jersey home last week has died from her injuries.

Edison firefighters had pulled 72-year-old Loretta Pante from her home in the Edison Mobile Estates development on Wednesday. She had suffered smoke inhalation and collapsed before she was taken to a hospital, where she died late Friday night.

Township fire officials confirmed Pante’s death on Monday. No other injuries were reported in the blaze.

Authorities say flames were coming from some windows when firefighters arrived, along with thick, heavy black smoke. The fire was brought under control a short time later.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
