NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut judge known for his fairness and understanding of people from all walks of life has died. Superior Court Judge Kevin McMahon was 68.
His wife, Patricia “Patti” McMahon, told The Day newspaper in New London that McMahon suffered from rheumatoid arthritis and other health issues and had been at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for nearly a month when he died Monday.
She says her husband, who was known as “The People’s Judge,” loved being a judge in New London and Norwich.

Semiretired since 2013, McMahon still continued to handle some of the most difficult cases as a senior judge.
McMahon, a New Britain native, attended Providence College and Western New England College School of Law. He was a prosecutor before he was appointed as a judge in 1993.
