SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (AP) - Police in the southern Arizona city of Sierra Vista say they teamed up with local, state and federal agencies to arrest nine people on suspicion of using the internet for child sexual exploitation.

Officers said Tuesday the joint operation aimed to identify adults using the internet to commit crimes against children. They say the people arrested last week face state and federal charges that make it a crime to lure minors for sexual activity or have minors take sexually explicit photos.

The investigation was carried out over several weeks by a task force that included members of Homeland Security Investigations, the FBI, Customs and Border Protection, the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command, Arizona Department of Public Safety, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office and Sierra Vista police.
