Police: Alabama officer accused of driving while intoxicated

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - A police officer in Huntsville, Alabama, is accused of driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Al.com reports Justin Jamar Willis was arrested Sunday morning and charged with a misdemeanor DUI. He posted bail hours later and was released.

Huntsville police Lt. Michael Johnson says state troopers arrested Willis during a traffic stop. It’s unclear what caused the troopers to conduct the traffic stop. Johnson says Willis is on desk duty pending an internal investigation.

The newspaper says attempts to reach Willis for comment were unsuccessful. It says state police didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. It’s unclear if Willis has a lawyer who can comment on his behalf.
