BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota’s House has killed legislation that seeks to decriminalize possession of small amounts of marijuana.

Representatives voted 47-43 to reject the measure on Wednesday.

Fargo GOP Rep. Shannon Roers Jones sponsored the bill that sought to fine someone $200 for possessing an ounce or less of pot. Currently, it’s a misdemeanor punishable by up to 30 days in jail and a $1,500 fine.
