PEMBERTON, N.J. (AP) - Police say two people have died in a crash amid a winter storm in New Jersey.

Pemberton Township Police Capt. Dave Kinney said Wednesday that authorities responded about midday to news of a crash on West Hampton Street in the southern New Jersey borough of Pemberton.

Pemberton is about 30 miles (48 kilometers) east of Philadelphia.

Few details are available. It’s unclear what led to the accident and who the victims were.

Kinney says weather-related accidents were being called in around the same time but the cause of the fatal crash remains under investigation.

A winter storm dropped several inches of snow across the state Wednesday. It was expected to turn to rain later in the day.
