LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The mother of a 30-year-old man who was shot and killed by a Little Rock police officer during a traffic stop says she plans to hire an attorney.
Authorities said Saturday that Bradley Blackshire was fatally wounded about 11 a.m. Friday after he was pulled over in a car that was listed as stolen by Officer Charles Starks.
Police say Blackshire stopped the vehicle but then accelerated and hit Starks, who opened fire and shot Blackshire. Blackshire died at the scene.
Officials say a passenger in Blackshire’s vehicle was uninjured. Starks was treated for his injuries and released Friday night.
Blackshire’s mother, Kim Blackshire-Lee, says she is looking for answers from the police department and plans to hire an attorney. She says her son’s fatal shooting could have been prevented.
