BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - A 14-year-old boy accused of shooting a fellow teen at a party in southern Montana has been charged in youth court.
The Billings Gazette reported Tuesday the boy was charged with criminal endangerment for the Dec. 14 shooting at a home in Colstrip.
Investigators say a group of teenage boys was drinking and smoking marijuana when the 16-year-old victim was shot in the shoulder and chest area with an AR-15 rifle. The shot broke his collarbone, and he required surgery to remove bullet fragments.

The teens initially told police the rifle had been leaning against a wall when it slipped and discharged, but investigators say the 14-year-old boy later confessed to pulling the trigger.
Colstrip Police Chief Cory Hert says the boy who fired the shot didn’t know the gun was loaded.
