NELIGH, Neb. (AP) - A county commissioner in northeast Nebraska has been accused of stealing an item from the county.

Antelope County Court records say Eli Jacob is charged with misdemeanor theft. He referred questions Thursday to his attorney, who didn’t immediately return a call from The Associated Press.

Prosecutor Joe Smith says Jacob, of Clearwater, is accused of taking a heater of some sort from a county shed. Smith says Jacob has returned the item.

Jacob is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at the courthouse in Neligh (NEE’-lee)
