Agency hopes to work with Rutland to resolve records dispute

RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont Agency of Transportation says it does not want to go to court with Rutland over a public records dispute.

The agency says it hopes to work with the town to resolve a denied request involving the records connected to a rail spur allegedly built over a town water line. The Rutland Herald reports the town filed suit in October against two contractors who performed the work.

The agency is not involved in the town’s lawsuit against the rail contractors, who have, through court documents, denied performing the work in question.

AOT official Michele Boomhower says they hope to schedule a meeting with town officials to work out a solution.
