TRENTON, Mich. (AP) - Two people have been killed when the car they were in slammed into the side of a moving train southwest of Detroit.

WXYZ-TV reports that 27-year-old Sean Umlor and 26-year-old Amanda Ellis died early Saturday morning in Trenton.

Police tell the television station that Umlor is believed to have been driving too fast for road conditions and veered to avoid a salt truck stopped for the train. The car crashed through the flashing crossing gate and then hit the train.

The crash remains under investigation.
