Father says he fatally shot man in defense of daughter

O’FALLON, Mo. (AP) - Suburban St. Louis police say a father told officers that he fatally shot a man because he was defending his daughter from domestic violence.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that shooting happened Thursday night in an O’Fallon neighborhood. Responding officers found 45-year-old Juan Ante, of O’Fallon, wounded and spoke to a 68-year-old man. He told police he fired a handgun in defense of his 43-year-old daughter during the altercation.

Ante was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
