GOSHEN, N.Y. (AP) - A New Jersey man has been sentenced to prison for his role in a DWI crash that killed his girlfriend and a friend’s fiancée in 2017.

Officials say 32-year-old Christopher Perrella, of Vernon, New Jersey was impaired by marijuana and alcohol at the time of the crash in Warwick, New York. The Times Herald-Record reports 36-year-old Emily Carwile and 30-year-old Jessica Dussault died at the scene of the crash, while passenger 32-year-old Joseph Giordano was injured.

Perrella was sentenced Thursday in Orange County to serve five to 15 years in prison for the crash.

Giordano and Dussault were engaged, and the couples were in Warwick that day to look at a potential wedding venue. Perrella says he accepts responsibility for the crash.
