MOUNTAIN BROOK, Ala. (AP) - Authorities in Alabama say a woman who was in a crash got out of the car and was hit and killed while walking across the road.

AL.com reports the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the woman as 24-year-old Miranda Lynn Wiley. Mountain Brook police Chief Ted Cook says the Trussville resident was struck Sunday night on U.S. Route 280.

Cook says Wiley was in a crash in the westbound lanes in Mountain Brook. She exited the wrecked vehicle and walked over to the other side of the road, where an eastbound car hit her.

Police are still investigating both crashes. Mountain Brook and Trussville are Birmingham suburbs.
