MODESTO, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say four people have been injured by a driver who intentionally tried to hit people at a Modesto park.
Police were called Tuesday night to Beard Brook Park, where a city-sanctioned campground for the homeless has some 250 residents.
Police spokeswoman Sharon Bear tells the Modesto Bee that witnesses reported a four-door Saturn appeared to be intentionally striking people.
The car hit three people in the park and a fourth while driving away.
Three victims had minor injuries and one had moderate injuries.
The driver was arrested a short time later when the car hit a pole.
Twenty-nine-year-old Israel Bazan was injured and remained hospitalized Wednesday morning. Authorities say he may have been under the influence and could face attempted murder charges.
It’s unclear whether he has a lawyer.
