DUBLIN, Calif. (AP) - Prosecutors in Northern California say a man has been sentenced to jail time for the brutal beating of his 9-month-old puppy.

The East Bay Times reports Friday that 24-year-old Joshua Tadduc, of Hayward, was sentenced to 30 days in county jail and three years of felony probation.

Alameda County prosecutors say Tadduc beat the puppy in 2017 with a wooden stick after the animal defecated inside his home.

He is not allowed to own Aaliyah anymore.
